Dr. Laiq M. Raja is the Medical Director of the Cardiology and Critical Limb Ischemia Departments at The Hospitals of Providence, Memorial Campus, El Paso, TX and
Medical Director of PULSE Amputation Prevention Centers. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso, TX.
Dr. Raja has been in clinical practice for 19 years and is dedicated to the treatment of patients with critical limb ischemia. He is a passionate educator dedicated to
spreading awareness of critical limb ischemia treatment and limb salvage. He has participated in multiple national and international clinical trials including Illuminate ATK,
Illuminate BTK, Excite, Liberty 360,PRIME registry, Connect I and Connect II and Safe DCB to name a few. He conducts CTO training courses emphasizing crossing
techniques via alternative access strategies including tibial, popliteal, antegrade, and retrograde approaches, as well as the utilization of IVUS and Atherectomy to treat
patients with severe disease. Dr. Raja
and his team at the Hospitals of Providence have instituted CLI Inpatient Protocols and algorithms. They have also created protocols for acute limb ischemia to elevate patients with
symptoms to the same priority as chest pain/STEMI, preventing delay in treatment that could lead to unnecessary limb amputation.

Lorena C. Henderson, APRN, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner and the Administrator and Clinical Director of the Amputation Prevention and Patient Care Coordination Program at PULSE. She also serves as Clinical Research Coordinator for El Paso Cardiology Associates, under the direction of Dr. Laiq Raja, M.D.
Lorena earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at El Paso and completed her Masters of Science in Nursing as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas.
Credentialed at all of the Hospitals of Providence (Sierra, Memorial and Transmountain) and Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, Lorena practices under the specialty of cardiology and has focused specialization in the treatment and management of critical limb ischemia and amputation prevention under direct supervision of Dr Laiq Raja, M.D. , one of the country’s foremost experts in the treatment of Critical limb ischemia, who is the director of the Amputations Prevention Program at the Hospitals of Providence as well as PULSE Amputation Prevention Centers.
A published author in Cath Lab Digest and Endovascular Today, Lorena has assisted in the development and initiation of a CLI and Amputation Prevention Treatment Program in collaboration with a local healthcare system as well as being a co- founder of PULSE Amputation Prevention Centers. Early in her career she was also involved in the development of heart failure program initiatives to establish dedicated heart failure clinics. Lorena is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
She currently serves as the chair for the communications committee of CLI Global society and has previously served as a member of the wound care committee of the CLI global society.
